Sharon Stone is a Hollywood legend who is known for her beauty and for speaking her mind. One of the topics she has recently discussed is cosmetic surgery by telling the public that she is done with having any type of procedure. The sixty-four-year-old actor decided to share her experience with Botox and fillers in a magazine article. The article for Vogue Arabia also included information about the scary reason that has caused her to never want to have these treatments again,
In the past, Sharon Stone viewed cosmetic surgery as a “cute luxury” that she enjoyed having at the time, However, a “massive stroke and a nine-day brain hemorrhage” changed her opinion about Botox and fillers.
Following the stroke, Stone needed more than three hundred shots of Botox and filler in order for one side of her face to lift up again after she suffered the stroke. Because of her need for such a large amount of Botox and fillers, she now views aesthetic cosmetic surgery treatments as a “painful neurological need.”
FYI: A stroke happens when the blood supply to the brain is reduced or interrupted. In turn, this prevents the tissue of the brain from receiving the necessary nutrients and oxygen. Sharon Stone experienced one of the symptoms of a stroke when her face started to droop, and this is known as facial paralysis. This symptom is the result of the nerves that control the facial muscles being damaged in the brain. Facial paralysis normally only impacts half of the face which is shown in the story of Sharon Stone as only one side of her face needed Botox and fillers in order to be lifted once again.
Stone does admit that no longer using Botox and fillers might have ended certain relationships for her but she is not worried about this fact. In the article, she mentioned that a partner once suggested to her that she should have a procedure performed on her body. “I saw him one more time after that and then he wasn’t interested in seeing me anymore. If you don’t see me for more than that, you’ll please find your way to the exit.”
Even with the health issues that she suffered from the stroke, Sharon Stone is very comfortable with her appearance and her life. “I feel like this is the most exciting and creative period of my life. I feel really, really happy. I’ve never been this joyful.”
Her happiness was evident on her Instagram page this summer when she posted a photo of herself where she was only wearing a towel and a pair of bikini bottoms. The caption of the photo said, “Gratefully imperfect on a perfect day.”
Botox and fillers are both placed in the body, and often in the face, in order to give a patient a more youthful and refreshed look. There are some differences in the two treatment options and they are discussed below.
Botox is able to lessen the look of fine lines and wrinkles and give a person a smoother look to the treated areas of the face. The doctor will inject Botox into a muscle that is located near a wrinkle so neuromuscular blockers are able to limit the amount of muscle contractions in the targeted area. The injection allows the muscles to relax to the point that the skin starts to gain a smooth look thanks to the reduction of the fine lines and wrinkles. Since the skin is not being pulled by the muscle contractions, the skin has time to smooth out for a younger look.
Fillers reduce the appearance of creases and lines in the face while also restoring volume that has been lost due to the aging process. Patients gain a fullness to the face and the fillers can also be used to restore volume that has been lost in the lips. Fillers can be made of a variety of substances including substances that naturally occur in the body (hyaluronic acid) and in the bones (calcium hydroxylapatite). The filler of choice is injected into the targeted area on the face or the lips to give the patient a look that is more youthful thanks to the restoration of lost volume.
Patients do need to know that the results of both Botox and fillers are not permanent and that follow-up treatments will be needed to maintain the results. They also cannot provide the same dramatic results as a surgical procedure such as a facelift. Patients need to make sure and find a cosmetic surgeon who is experienced in performing these treatments in order to make sure the final results are natural in appearance and that the general public will not be able to easily tell that a person had Botox or fillers placed in their face in order to gain a younger appearance.
